Our research group investigates functional and topological structures in ferroic materials, such as ferroelectric domain walls and non‑trivial magnetic spin textures. These nanoscale structures possess remarkable physical properties that offer exciting opportunities for future information and communication technologies.
A core element of our work is the development and application of correlated microscopy approaches that allow us to probe all relevant length scales – from individual atoms to micrometer‑scale regions where electric and magnetic correlations emerge. In particular, we employ advanced scanning probe microscopy techniques (including piezoresponse, conductive, and magnetic force microscopy) to resolve electric and magnetic phenomena with nanoscale spatial precision. Complementary methods such as transmission electron microscopy (TEM), atom probe tomography (APT), and focused ion beam (FIB) nanostructuring enable us to understand, manipulate, and ultimately control the emergent functional properties of these materials.
